Charles Corey and staff finished getting all the IRF ready for planting with the strip-till rigs. Now we wait for the soil temperature to warm up enough to plant corn. Soil temps must be 52-54 degrees for corn to germinate and begin the cycle. With the very moist conditions and cold soil, planted too early the seed coat will imbibe moisture and the seed coat would rupture and potentially rot because the roots or small plant will not grow at soil temperatures below 50. Let us all be smart and give the soil a chance to warm up.
